Loans and copy requests

Students, faculty and staff of TUMSAT can order materials or photocopies from other institutions. They can also access the libraries of other universities.

Request photocopies from other institutions

Copies can be ordered through the MyLibrary  website


Delivery time:
4 days on average, but may take up to 10 days. Please choose a faster postal service for speedy delivery.

Fees:
A standard order of 5 copies, including postage, costs 350 yen. The charges vary according to the destination and number of copies.
Payment methods:
Divided between research garant (public expense), and private expense (cash).
Reception of copied materials:
The user is contacted by the library upon reception of the materials to determine the delivery location and payment method.

Notes:
  1. Requests using public expense are subject to approval by an academic supervisor. Please specify your name, student number, and supervisor name. For copies paid with private expense, specify the name of the relevant department and course.
  2. Please specify in the form whether color pages are to be copied in color.
  3. This service is unavailable to users with overdue materials.

Request books from other institutions

Post and parcel charges are borne by the user. Fees amount on average to 1,350 yen per request, and vary according to the destination and weight of the book.
Payment methods:
Divided between research garant (public expense), and private expense (cash). Requests using public expense are subject to approval by an academic supervisor.

Depends on the library, but usually extends over 1 to 3 weeks. Details available upon reception of the materials.

Visiting Other Libraries

Users wishing to access libraries outside TUMSAT may be required to present a letter of introduction. Please apply for this letter at the library counter. Consult the relevant library's website and check the rules for non-affiliated users.

Other remote services

TUMSAT researchers pursuing academic work outside Japan and in other remote locations can access materials through the library.

1 Requirements:

  1. This service is limited to researchers affiliated with TUMSAT who are working outside Japan or at the TUMSAT Field Science Center.
  2. In principle, it is limited to researchers fulfilling the above requirements for a period of at least 3 months.
  3. Only accessible through public expense.

2 Purpose:

To provide photocopies of all accessible materials to TUMSAT researchers stationed abroad or in remote locations.

3 Request process:

Photocopies can be ordered online through the MyLibrary  website.
  • When request copies, please enter your location in the remarks field (example: “Please forward to Oizumi Station through internal mail”).
  • Student IDs and passwords are the same as those issued by Information Processing Center. Professors and teaching staff need to set up a new ID by addressing an email to the library.

4 Other notes:

  1. Internal mail is sent once a week. For urgent matters, please specify details in the remarks field.
  2. Additional forms may be required due to copyright issues. Please follow the instructions sent by email from the library.
